RESEARCH INTEREST:

My postgraduate research is on ancient DNA from domesticated animals. The project aims to investigate the changes in population dynamics at times of artificial selection by ancient and historical herders. It is hypothesized that at times of sharp selection the variability in Y lineages will greatly decrease due to the culling and castration of most males in the livestock population. The project aims to test this hypothesis by comparing genetic variability and investigating if the reductions in variability are specific to the male lineage.

EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE:

June to August 2014: Worked in the Wayne lab, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. Main project on Drosophila population genetics and Drosophila sigma virus.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

2015 to present: PhD candidate. Bradley lab, Trinity College Dublin

Supervisor: Dan Bradley

OTHER Merits:
Awarded the Vincent scholarship from Trinity College Dublin, School of genetics in 2013.
Awarded postgraduate research scholarship from the Irish Research Council in 2015.
